Banca Afirme restituyó 172 millones de pesos al gobierno de Baja California por el fallido proyecto de una planta fotovoltaica planeada en la administración de Jaime Bonilla Valdez, que nunca tuvo permisos federales.
En su cuenta de red social, la gobernadora Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda informó este 15 de julio de 2025 que Banca Afirme restituyó 172 millones de pesos al Estado, de los cuales 123 millones de pesos corresponden a lo originalmente retenidos cuando la institución financiera fungió como administrador del fideicomiso para la planta solar.

Ello, luego de que la licitación fue otorgada por el gobierno de Jaime Bonilla a la empresa Next Energy.

Los restantes 49 millones corresponden a rendimientos generados desde entonces.

La devolución de los recursos al gobierno estatal ocurre luego de que Nabor Medina Garza, uno de los directivos de Banca Afirme, fuera detenido y un juez determinó que debe enfrentar su proceso legal en prisión por el delito de abuso por retención, por no devolver los 123 millones de pesos del fideicomiso hecho para el proyecto fallido.
